Mineralogical and Spectral Studies on the Serpentine Jade in Hanzhong,Shaanxi Province

    • The serpentine jade, produced in Hanzhong, Shaanxi province, has a fine delicate and moist quality. It appears to be a unique yellow to dark brown colour. XRF analysis shows that SiO2(42.90%~44.62%) and MgO(43.03%~44.10%) are the main chemical composition of the jade. XRD analysis reveals that the mineral composition of the serpentine jade is 1T-lizardite; in jade cracks the commonly developed asbestos is orthochrysotile.
